Several new movies are coming out in 2018; some sequels and some based off of books. The following are some that are being released in theaters in 2018.

Coming out on March 8, A Wrinkle in Time features Meg Murray as she travels through time and several dimensions with her brother and friend to save her father. This movie is based off of the classic novel written Madeleine L’Engle, and was also made into a movie in 2004, but the movie was not successful. Only 47% of Rotten Tomatoes people liked it. Although Madeleine L’Engle will not be able to see the new movie, as she died in 2007, her legacy lives on.

Finally, after 14 years of waiting, The Incredibles 2 is finally coming. This much awaited sequel comes out on June 15, 2018, and surprisingly takes place right where it left off. The movie starts a minute after the Parr family dresses as superheroes after spotting the Underminer in the previous film. This time, the story revolves around Elastigirl, or Helen, as she heads off on her own adventure. The story also follows Mr. Incredible, or Bob, as he takes care of Jack-Jack, the family’s youngest child who is rapidly developing powers. No one is sure who the villain in the movie is going to be yet, but some fans have some theories. Some speculate that Syndrome will return, and some think that the villain will somehow be linked to Gazerbeam, a superhero who was killed by Syndrome in the first film.

But Incredibles fans are not the only group getting a new installment, as a sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is being released. The Crimes of Grindelwald comes out on Nov. 16, 2018. The film takes place in 1927, a few months after Newt’s first adventure. The film will take place beyond New York as Newt’s adventures expand to Paris and London. Jacob, the No-Maj (or non-wizard), Tina and Queenie, Tina’s sister, will also return in this film. Although the main characters from Fantastic Beasts are will also be present in The Crimes of Grindelwald, there are several new characters to this movie series as well. Albus Dumbledore, mentioned in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and Nicolas Flamel, a friend of Dumbledore’s, will both be in The Crimes of Grindelwald. These characters played significant roles in The Harry Potter series. Some other characters who are new to the world of Harry Potter are Torquil Travers, played by Derek Riddell, and Rosier, played by Poppy Corby-Tuech. Rosier and Travers are the last names of two Death Eaters in the Harry Potter series, so they might be distantly related. Also, in a picture of the cast fully dressed as their characters, Grindelwald is holding the Elder Wand, a significant part to the backstory of the seventh Harry Potter book.
