One of the Only Boys on Staff

Yearbook is known to have a higher percentage of girls than boys here at HP. This is the case this year because there are only three boys out of all of the students on staff. Yearbook is a great class for boys and girls as long as you have interest and experience with technology, cameras, and journalism.

Yearbook can be a handful if you are a staffer or a staff editor. It is either only the staffers first year or the staff editors second year. The staff editor has all of the staffers spreads to correct and the staffers have to spend a lot of time in effort on making their spread.

“Due to the fact that I am one of the only boys on the yearbook staff I don’t have my friends distracting me so I can get a lot of work done during the period that I have yearbook.” Even though I am one of the only boys on the yearbook staff I love it because I am Perkins lunch boy. What that is, is when Perkins goes to get her lunch she gets me lunch as well because I don’t have a period for lunch. A disadvantage of being one of the only boys on the staff is that the other people on the staff are constantly asking me, will you get Slurpee’s, or will you go out and get all of the quotes,” senior Harold Deulofeut said.

“Due to the tremendous amount of work on the first few days for my freshman year I wanted to pull my hair out. I seriously thought about quitting. I have been the only guy in my yearbook period for the past three years. I am a junior now and yet I have still never thought about the fact that I am the only boy on staff. I just do the best that I can to make the book the best it can possibly be. The awkward moments are worth it since I was given the title “Yearbook King” by the senior staff, ” junior Feild Parsons said.

When these boys on the yearbook staff graduate HP will need new boys to join the staff. The current boys on the staff have a reputation to do well in yearbook. We will see how the future boys on the yearbook staff present themselves to Perkins, the Queen of Yearbook.
