Unpredictable weather in Texas

Last weekend seemed to be a preview of spring in the end of January, with temperatures

reaching the mid 70s. The warm front led students to put up their boots and bring out shorts and

“Last weekend the weather was so nice. I loved it. My friends and I went to a ranch

instead of Hilites, and it was really great being able to be outside with all of the cool animals

without being freezing,” senior Madison Taylor said.

The weather has been all over the place this winter, in some cases getting below freezing

and in some cases reaching almost 80 degrees.

“I hate how I wake up in the morning and it is so cold, but when I get out of school I’m

sweating,” senior Ethan Mullen said. “I don’t know how to dress for this weather.”

Other students have been disappointed with the recent heat outside because there is yet to

be any snowfall this year. It is hard to believe that one day the high in Dallas can be 49 degrees,

and three days later it is 76 degrees. This happened just the last week of January, being very cold

on Tuesday and already hot by Friday. This sort of bipolar weather is typical for people who

have grown up in Texas all their lives, and it is predicted to continue through February, with the

high on the first as 73 degrees and the predicted low on the third to be below freezing.

“While I do love the days with warm weather, I am disappointed that it hasn’t snowed,”

senior Jillian Ewer said. “There have been so many days where it was forecasted snow, and it has

rained and been cold, but just not quite cold enough to snow and that’s sad.”

Whether you hate the constant changes of Texas weather or enjoy the variety, it is

definitely true to say that the weather this winter has been all over the place. With constant

changes like these, who knows? Maybe we will have snow before the beginning of spring.
