Scots athletics have been victorious this fall season, as multiple teams continue to move forward in their respective leagues.
The Highland Park Scots Tennis team won 10-6 in the regional semi-final over second-ranked Frisco Heritage last Friday. The Scots then played fourth-ranked Frisco Centennial and defeated Centennial 10-4 in the regional final. The semi-final round will be played against top-ranked team Amarillo and is scheduled for Friday in Wichita Falls at Hamilton Park.
Lady Scots Cross Country finished second in the 5A Region 2 meet Tuesday, led by senior captain Cameron Fawcett who placed second. The Lady Scots will advance to the state meet on Monday, Nov. 23 in Round Rock and will race at 2:30 p.m.
Boys Cross Country, or “Running Scots,” finished 8th at the regional meet on Tuesday led by senior captain Ethan Moss who finished 20th overall.
The Lady Scots Volleyball is currently undefeated in districts, capturing the third consecutive district championship on Wednesday night. The team was led by seniors Carter Ching, Charlotte Lassarat, Anna Claire Nichol and Kennedy Westendorff.
Finally, the Scots football team had a huge 18-13 win last Friday over seventh-ranked Longview to take the district lead in 7-5A. The Scots play McKinney North tonight at Highlander Stadium. This upcoming game is the “Blue Out Night” for the Highlander Band as well as their senior night.
