Over the summer I went to Local Press and Brew in Oak Lawn. You go over the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, take a left, and take a short drive to reach the destination. There is very little parking available, so it is necessary to find the right times to go. This shop not only serves coffee, but also fresh pressed juices. It aims to serve those who are into healthy trends, so they have a garden right beside it, which has little animals there such as bunnies that you can look at.
I ordered a latte, and asked if there were any syrups to add, but there are not any. The servers were helpful in that they suggested similar drinks that might suit my taste better, but instead I just added quite a bit of sugar to tone down the strength of the latte. Once the sugar was added, I thoroughly enjoyed the coffee. So if you prefer strong coffee, i recommend Local Press and Brew. There is not much seating to enjoy a hot cup of coffee, but even though this shop opened Summer 2015, it was not crowded. The design created in the cup was splendid as well.
The decor is minimal, but appealing. The counters are made from marble and look chic. In one corner, there is a black, leather couch that adheres to the space nicely. Although the tables are set low and are tiny, it adds to the vibe. Above the couch there are minimalistic pictures in white frames, along with other various pieces of art. The shop as a whole has a very open concept to it, creating a sense of more space.
Local Press and Brew is not a place i recommend to study at. There is not enough chairs or comfort for that and it is only open until 7. That and distance from Highland Park are the biggest downsides to this new establishment, but if you are willing to take the time to sit down to just enjoy a cup of coffee, this would be the right place for you.
