Fire and Fury

Author writes book negatively talking about President Trump

Author Michael Wolff collaborates with former White House Strategist Steve Bannon to write the book “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.” In the book Wolff writes of interviews with top aides to President Donald Trump.

The book, released on January 5, paints a negative picture of the president and his allies. This includes a list of claims, a prominent one being concern over the president’s mental fitness to serve as commander-in-chief, such as the one made on page 304.

“Everyone, in his or her own way, struggled to express the baldly obvious fact that the president did not know enough, did not know what he didn’t know, did not particularly care, and to boot, was confident if not serene in his unquestioned certitudes,” Wolff said.

The president does claim that he is in perfectly good health, and referenced the cognitive scan he took with Dr. Bandy Lee, who works for the World Health Organization. Although the exam gave President Trump a perfect score, a few psychiatrists believe the test only shows the ability for regular cognitive function. The test he took required him to repeat sentences, remember the names of animals such as lions and draw a cube.

The president’s lawyers had found out about the book before it was sent to stores and became available online, sending a cease-and-desist letter to the publisher. However, this caused the book to be released four days earlier than planned.

The book is already being sold out in many stores, some of which ran out of copies before the first day of release.

Over the weekend, we took pre-orders for hundreds more and expect to be able to fill those orders today and tomorrow as additional copies arrive from the publisher,” said co-owner of Washington D.C. bookshop Politics and Prose Bradley Graham.

President Trump responded to the release of the book with a tweet.

“Zero access to the White House (actually turned him down many times) for author of phony book,” President Trump said. “I never spoke to him for book.”
