Trump’s changes

Trumps+changes

Since President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20, he has gotten a large number of his ideas in motion. The following list includes executive orders, regulations and repeals that Trump has already put in place. This is not, however, a complete list of everything Trump has done thus far.

It is first important to note what an executive order is, an article by The Washington Post goes into detail about what an executive order is.

“Basically, an executive order is an official statement from the president about how the federal agencies he oversees are to use their resources.”

This should not be confused with the President ordering a new law.

“The president’s executive orders are recorded in the Federal Register and are considered binding, but they are subject to legal review.”

Trump made an executive order to suspend the refugee program and banned citizens of seven predominantly Islamic countries from getting visas.  The seven countries are Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.  The program is called the States Department’s Refugee Program. This is a temporary change to put in place with the intention of preventing terrorists from those countries from getting into the U.S. until something more permanent can be put in place.

  1. An executive order that increases the rules about sanctuary cities. This order also states that they will start building a wall on the Mexican border.
  2. Trump nominated Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.
  3. He reinstated the “Mexico City Policy” that former president Barack Obama put on pause. This policy bans federal funding on international abortions.
  4. Repealed gun regulations that former president Obama put in place.
  5. Exited from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) on Jan. 23.  The TPP is a trade agreement between Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam. President Trump got the United States out of the partnership because getting rid of it takes jobs, can cause various environmental complications, can compromise our food safety, makes medicine more expensive and more.
  6. Gave new sanctions to Iran. “The new sanctions are aimed at entities and individuals tied to activities like procurement and human rights abuses, two senior administration officials and a person involved in the discussions,” wrote a writer for NBC News said.
  7. Okayed the start of the Keystone and Dakota access pipeline which will create a huge number of jobs.
  8. Repealed Obama’s order on lead bullets in fishing tackle
  9. Bulked Immigration enforcement by broadened enforcement priorities, added agents, and allowed states governments to help with police immigration.
  10. Released a budget.

Trump is not finished  “making America great again,” but this is his start after his first six months in office.
