Niall Horan, former One Direction member and new solo artist, came out with an entirely new album. On October 20, Horan released his album Flicker, which consists of 13 songs; two of them being “This Town” and “Slow Hands.” “This Town” was released as a single in September of 2016. The popular song has had over 42 million views on YouTube and has won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Breakout Artist in 2016. “Slow Hands” first came out as a single on May 4. The song’s lyric video uploaded on YouTube in May, and has reached over 94 million views.

Horan has come a long way since his X-Factor days. He was born in Ireland and started having an interest in music as an adolescent. Horan tried out for X-Factor, a singing competition show, as a solo artist in 2010 and did not make the cut. After being eliminated, he then joined four other contestants on the show and formed One Direction. The band consisted of Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Harry Styles. The band signed a contract with Syco in 2011. One Direction came out with their first successful album, Up All Night, which sold over 176,000 copies within the first week. The band’s first single “What Makes You Beautiful” reached number one on the charts for the UK, Mexico and Ireland. In November of 2012, the boy band released their second album Take Me Home, which reached number one on the charts for more than five different countries. Following that album, their movie This Is Us, which was mainly filmed throughout the tour, was released. The movie grossed more than 30 million dollars worldwide during the first week in theaters. One Direction released three more albums, Midnight Memories, Four and Made In The A.M. before the band broke up. In 2016 Horan announced that he signed with Capitol Records for a solo deal.

Horan is currently on tour with various artists, and will be in Dallas at the South Side Ballroom on Nov.17, and Nov. 28 at Jingle Ball.
