Danny Masterson, an actor on the Netflix Show ‘The Ranch’ is to be written off after recent allegations of sexual assault. The Ranch, which has been running for 2 seasons, was quick to cut him off, December 8th being his last appearance on the show as they continue on into 2018 without him.

Masterson is just one of the many men who has been accused of rape after Harvey Weinstein, Weinstein being the start of the hashtag me too, and many women gaining the courage to stand up.

“It’s coming out to the world that they are rapists,” Sophia Pan, a viewer of ‘The Ranch’, said.

Masterson has been accused of raping four women in the early 2000s. One accuser filed a report in 2004 for an encounter in 2003, but the other three women have come out recently due to the many high-profile men who have been accused of sexual harassment.

All of the women have chosen to remain anonymous. Masterson, like many other men, has denied any allegations of rape, claiming all incidents were consensual. He is disappointed about ‘The Ranch’ but looks forward to clearing his name, he said in a statement to HuffPost on December 5th. The Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles County District attorney are currently investigating the situation. Masterson is also not the first one that Netflix has written off of their shows, Kevin Spacey being an even more well known actor that was written off due to sexual misconduct in the workplace.

“There needs to be more respect for women and their bodies in the industry,” Pan said.

Masterson is also a member of the Church of Scientology, which has claimed to not know anything about the allegations. But, people who are part of the church said that members of the church did have knowledge of the encounters before the public. The Church has worked to cover up the mistakes of their members in the past, this being a similar case. This is not the first sexual assault case that the Church has handled before, stopping the victims from going to the police, maintaining their reputation.

Masterson was taken to court over 15 years ago for the same allegations, and the claims were determined to be without merit. Masterson was a prime example of sexual harassment and the treatment of women in the TV and music industry, but the list of men is not limited to those industries:

“It doesn’t happen to only men and women in the industry, it happens to everyone, and people just easily get away with it,” Pan said.
