Community Partners of Dallas

As we begin to reach the last couple of months of 2017, December happens to be just around the corner, and along with December comes Christmas. Many that are reading this article at the moment have experienced or heard about what it’s like to wake up on Christmas morning with bright eyes and cold feet as they run down the stairs and through the halls to their carefully decorated Christmas tree. But for children being helped by Community Partners of Dallas, that has never been the case. Community Partners of Dallas is an organization that helps abused and neglected kids experience a reality that’s closer luxury than they’ve ever known.

Each year, as the holidays roll around, Community Partners of Dallas implements a program called the Toy Drive in which they collect two wishes from multiple abused and neglected children, ranging from infants to eighteen year olds, in Child Protective Services that would otherwise receive nothing for the holidays. From there, Community Partners of Dallas takes the wishes and distributes them to people who are willing to fulfill the child’s wishes and return the items asked for back to the drive. These items can range anywhere from a doll to a new bicycle and every year every wish is either returned along with the items or with a donation of the money needed in order to buy the item.

In past years, Community Partners of Dallas has gone from fulfilling the wishes of a hundred kids to aiming for a record-breaking six thousand wishes this upcoming December. Obviously this means that Community Partners of Dallas will be needing many more volunteers who are willing to fulfill wishes and/or donate money, wrap the presents as they’re donated to the foundation, sponsor kids and caseworkers and even organize their own toy drives to collect multiple wishes. For those interested in helping these abused and neglected children experience a Christmas morning where they do in fact have a present to open like so many others, Community Partners of Dallas is eager to welcome new volunteers.
