Amazon Treasure Truck
The online Amazon store has a created a new way to buy things from them – the Amazon Treasure Truck. This truck – which is an actual, physical truck – has a specially selected item inside of it whenever it rolls out.
The process of the truck rolling out is fairly simple. The trucks are currently located in Portland, Seattle, LA, Phoenix, San Diego, Minneapolis, Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, Boston, New York, Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Dallas. When they go out for the day they send a notification out of what item it has, along with the location of the truck and the time frame to go buy and pick up the item. If a person is interested in the item, they can buy it through the Amazon app and then go and pick it up as well as buying it when they arrive at the truck.
This is different from how Amazon has operated in the past. Instead of being able to buy something and then wait for it to be delivered, a person has the ability to actively go to the truck to pick the item up.
So why would someone go through all that effort?
The item, which is a trending item on the Amazon website in whatever area the truck is at, is discounted. This gives the person a legitimate reason to go through the work of driving to the truck and getting the item. Because it’s a trending item in the area, it is very likely that the person was already interested in the item.
The Amazon Treasure truck has been in the Dallas area since late July. It’s debut item for sale was the Nintendo NES Classic Edition, a video game console, for $59.99. On Ebay, this console is sold for upwards of $100. The Truck did not stop there, since then itt has offered a Polaroid mobile photo printer and Sony bluetooth headphones.
The truck’s most recent outing was on Sept. 29, 2017. On that day, it offered a Nintendo’s Super NES Classic Edition for $79.99.
To become notified for the next time the truck rolls out, Amazon has used the number 24193. Text that number with the word “TRUCK” to be notified. Text “STOP” to cancel. The Amazon app can also be used to set up notifications.
