Congratulations to the following students for earning top places at the Dallas Area Regional History Day at Townview Center last weekend-
- Freshman Matthew McCall won 1st Place in the Individual Documentary Film category
- Junior Westley Sturhan won 1st Place in the Individual Dramatic Performance category
- Freshmen Christian W. Wright, Jeremy Rubin and Christian E. Wright finished 2nd in the Group Exhibit Category
All of these Scots will represent HP at Texas State History Day in Austin in April
Freshmen Michele Yang and Michelle Wiegn finished 3rd in the Group exhibit category, narrowly missing the cut for State.
Congratulations to the Scots Cyber Patriot Teams, who wrapped up their involvement in the National Cyber Defense competition recently.
The Scots Alpha Team, comprised of Pierce Lowary, Nicolas Nguyen, Cameron Hogland, Connor Hogland and John MacMichael, finished 24th in the Texas State round within the elite Platinum division, placing them within the top 25% of teams nationally. The Scots Beta Team, comprised of Slade Sinak, Michael Woods, William Deng, Evan Oliai and Christine Van Kirk finished 6th in the Southwest Region of the Gold Division and 2nd Place in Texas State Round within the Gold Division. This is also within the top 25% nationally.
Cyber Defense is a career field with excellent employment opportunities and salaries. If you are interested in learning about the techniques of Cyber Defense and being on the Cyber Defense team next year, please see Mr. Krasnoff or Mr. Combs.
The Men’s Varsity Soccer team defeated the North Forney Falcons 6-1 last night.
Bosco Moldanado opened the scoring. Duncan James scored a PK and a hat trick with assists by Cole Stevens, and Felix Gottlieb. Houston Hyde knocked in the last goal with an assist by Griffin McVeigh.

The Boys Basketball team beat Marshall last night 62-36 claiming the bi district championship. The Scots will play Frisco Liberty Friday. Come out to cheer on the Scots to a victory in the Area Championship.
Tomorrow, all 11th and 12 graders will report to 2nd period while the 9th and 10th graders go to an assembly for Litfest. Juniors and seniors please be at 2nd period at the regular time of 9:05 am. This is when we will take attendance and it will count towards exams in May.
The gymnasts hosted six teams last night at the HP Invitational.
- Our Varsity placed 2nd to Heath and our JV won the competition.
- Adam Elahmadi won the all around along with Floor, Vault, Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar. When he didn’t win, he placed 2nd on pommel horse and Rings.
- Marshall MciLyar took home two fourth places while AJ Chapman took a 4th and a 5th on vault and floor.
- Junior Captain Ryan Perry stuck his Ring dismount good for a 5th and a personal best of 8.1.
- Thomas Jones nearly stuck his back layout 1 and ½ twist for a 6th on floor and Etienne Black performed a handspring front vault, good for 10th place and an 8.1
- The JV Boys were lead by Jack Zurawel, again winning the all around.
Anyone interested in running for Student Council, there will be a mandatory meeting next Tuesday, February 28.
The meetings will be in the auditorium at 7:30 AM and at 3:35. You MUST attend one of these meetings and you MUST be on time.
There is no prior experience needed. Only those running for Senior executive positions give speeches. Requirements include a 3.0 GPA and a signed agreement by and your parents to abstain from drugs and alcohol, including not attending events with these activities.
