Jays not so ‘blue’ now
Rangers lose in a complete landslide to the Blue Jays
With the Texas Rangers getting so far and then losing in recent years, one would think they would finally have a stroke of luck at one point. OBut one would be wrong,; as the recent series of games between the Rangers and the Blue Jays have since proven the Blue Jays victorious, winning three straight games in a row to clinch the win, including two on the Rangers’ own field. Meanwhile, the Rangers were unable to pull off a win even while on their own field, which is likely due to their own bad start to the season.
The Rangers, overall, got off to a bad start in Game 3 of the season, though it was not very likely to end in a tie either way. As most avid sports fans will point out, a team is much more likely to win a home team game than an away team game,; meaning that once the Rangers lost not only one, but both home gamess,– it became fairly evident that this wouldn’t be their season to squeak out a win. Nevertheless, the Blue Jays went in for a clean sweep, marking yet another year where the Rangers would make it so close, but yet so far.
It was a standoff up to the 10th inning, where the Blue Jays were able to eke out a win in this game. The score was fairly close, being 7-6 in favor of the Blue Jays, but their home field advantage shouldn’t make their win surprising. There in the Rogers Center in Toronto, Josh Donaldson was the Blue Jays hitter to get the job done in this climactic game. Hitting a double, he was then able to run home with the support of his fellow teammates and eke outcapture a win for the Blue Jays.
What does this mean for the Blue Jays? TIt means the Blue Jays will be able to advance to the championship series for the second year in a row. Overall, they finished ninth in runs per game, but their hitting averages were low towards the end of the season, being only .236/.334/.358 overall. With this in mind and the slowly declining performance, it is unlikely that they will be able to win the championship.
For the Rangers, however, it’s time for Texan sports fans to put away their baseball caps once more. They will not be able to cheer on their favorite team all the way to the championships. Perhaps one day the Rangers will win. But sadly, this year is not the year for Texas’s, and the Dallas area’s, favorite baseball team.
This is my fourth year on the Bagpipe staff.
