Cultivar Coffee

On Sunday February 29, I took a drive to Cultivar Coffee in Lake Highlands at about 3:15. If you go down Mockingbird and continue to Peavy Road, you will turn into a parking lot on the corner right before Garland Road.

The coffee shop portion of this establishment is located at the front. There are many options available. I ordered an iced caramel latte. Although the service was friendly, it took a while to receive my coffee. Yet, the wait was definitely worth it. I was able to actually taste the flavor of the coffee instead of the syrup just adding extra sweetness.

I thought the layout of the shop was interesting. One side was a taco joint called Good 2 Go Taco, while the other was a seating area for Cultivar coffee. The seating at the taco joint is community style, but everything looked delicious, so although I did not order a taco, I would recommend it. The coffee shop side had very intricate yet modern artwork hung on the walls and a rack full of records available for purchasing. The two shops had very opposing vibes, but they also tied together nicely.

Cultivar is open until 8 every night of the week, so I might say that it is a nice place to study, but it is crowded and difficult to find a table, since there are only three available. It is also difficult to focus there because of all the noise.

Overall, Cultivar Coffee is a great, unique shop. I recommend it if you are near White Rock Lake or just want to experience a more upbeat environment within a coffee shop.
