Two HPHS teams are hoping to bring home trophies as they enter postseason competition.  The Academic Decathlon team will compete in the Texas State Championship Meet Feb. 26-27 at Irving MacArthur High School, and the Blue Wave Swim and Dive Team is advancing to the UIL 6A Region III meet which will begin at 

11 a.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5-6 at the Rockwall ISD Aquatic Center.

The AcDec team brought home the first-place trophy from the Region X meet Jan. 29-30. HP scored a total of 51,986 points, its highest point total ever, and finished first in the Super Quiz relay with 34 out of 36 questions answered correctly.

Individual Overall first-place trophies were awarded to:

• Michael Hodak in the Honors Division with a score of 9,176 points
• Jack Reynolds in the Varsity Division with a score of 8,638 points
