Black Forest Coffee

On Sunday January 24 around 2 o’clock, I took a short drive down Northwest Highway to Black Forest Cafe. This shop is connected to Half Price Books, so you have the liberty to either sit and enjoy your coffee inside the cafe, or you can browse the bookstore.

I ordered my caramel latte, and it was ready within only a couple minutes. Instead of sitting and chatting while sipping my coffee, I decided to explore the bookstore. If you have never been to Half Price Books, it is a giant warehouse full of books about anything you can think of, as well as DVDs, CDs, and records.I liked the easy access to that because it is a unique aspect of a coffee shop. I liked this coffee because it was not too sweet, but it was not as rich or thick as I had hoped it would be. Besides coffee, this shop also offers some small baked goods and other beverages.

The coffee shop portion is small and has an older, more run-down feel. There are wooden tables with chairs and worn couches inside the shop, and right outside one of the doors that leads to the bookstore is another small grouping of tables and chairs. This allows for people to sit down and enjoy their coffee while reading a book, which is a comforting concept.

I liked Black Forest Cafe and would go back, but it did not leave an impression in my mind that stands out from the many other coffee shops I have been to. The proximity to the Park Cities does make it a good option for a quick cup of coffee.
