The cooking club makes holiday food

The cooking club’s last meeting was a Thanksgiving theme, and we made mini pumpkin

pies. Morgan Weaver provided the house for the meeting, Cole Sorrels and Suzanne Wright

provided the ingredients, and all of the officers came early and stayed late to prepare and clean

up. To make our mini pumpkin pies, we used Nilla Wafers for the crust, and one of the officers

made the filling beforehand and brought it to the meeting.

“Our last meeting was only club officers and a few other seniors, because we didn’t get

on the announcements,” cooking club president, senior Cole Sorrels said. “Although we were

disappointed more people didn’t go, it was a lot easier to make and clean everything. Our first

meeting was crowded, but we were excited that it was a success.”

The meeting was actually so small, that we had extra time and decided to make pizza as

well. I really enjoy cooking club, because unlike other clubs and organizations it only takes up

maybe three or four hours each semester, and instead of dreading each mandatory meeting, I

look forward to them. Each time we have a meeting it is just filled with good food and

The next club meeting is during the week before exams, and it will also be themed; we

will be preparing foods for our Christmas bake sale. “I’m very excited about the Christmas bake

sale, because the money will go to charity and also because I love peppermint flavored foods,”

senior Jillian Ewer said. “Cooking club is a lot of fun and, as social media officer, I just get to

A great way to get in any holiday spirit is with food, and if you like to make good food,

the cooking club is the perfect place to bring together food lovers. I have been a part of this club

for al four years of high school, and I have always enjoyed every meeting.
