Royal Blue Grocery
The Royal Blue Grocery has booming business in Highland Park Village after opening on Oct. 30, 2015. The owners decided it was time to open a store in Dallas after the branch had six successful stores in Austin, Tx.
The Royal Blue Grocery chain is a high class grocery store that offers a wide selection of desired goods such as coconut oil, expensive juices, vegan options and anything kale. With an expensive presence surrounding the store, products are charged more than they would in a Kroger’s or Aldi’s.
The store doesn’t just sell pre-packaged goods though. There is a cafe and restaurant onsite with a wide selection of foods. In the cafe, sweets such as cookies, croissants, cake balls and tarts are sold as well as drip and cold brew coffee. The restaurant offers different menus depending on the time of the day. The breakfast menu offers breakfast tacos (either sausage, bacon, chorizo, migas, veggie chorizo, bacon and potato and cheese, egg white and avocado, spinach and egg and cheese) for three dollars each, seasonal fruit, assorted pastries and bagels.
The sandwiches menu offers bestsellers like The Texas Hold ‘Em (roast beef, cheddar, pepper jack, onions and peppers), Muffuletta (ham, mortadella, salami, olive salad and provolone), Italian (prosciutto, mozzarella, pesto, tomato and capicola), The Reuben (cracked pepper turkey, swiss, cole slaw and special sauce), The Cuban (nan, pulled pork, swiss, pickles and mayo delfuego), and The Veggie Grilled Cheese (cheddar, tomato, pesto, mayo, artichoke, parmesan and mozzarella, vegetarian friendly) for seven dollars each with the exception of the Reuben which is eight.
The salad menu offers a variety of leafy salads and specialty salads. The leafy salads include the Kale salad (chickpeas, zucchini, red bell, radishes with a cashew tamari dressing), the Cobb salad (grilled chicken, hard cooked egg, avocado, tomato with blue cheese dressing), and the Asian salad (grilled chicken, carrots, oranges, green onions, sesame seeds with a soy ginger vinaigrette). The specialty salads include the Black Bean (with roasted corn, tomato, radish and cilantro), Rotini (with feta, tomatoes, kalamata olives and basil), and Quinoa (with cucumber, mango, feta, tomato, mint and almonds).
There are tables provided outside for sitting, seating on the actual store floor, and then a mezzanine that looks out over the store for additional seating. An excess amount of tables is needed because it is always packed with customers.
