Football Playoffs: HP Scots vs. Waco Midway Panthers
The Scots fell to the Waco Midway Panthers in round two of the playoffs for the second year in a row on Saturday at AT&T Stadium by a score of 31-50. Highland Park’s defense and special teams contributed two of the Scots’ four touchdowns. One was off a fumble recovery in MIdway’s end zone by junior, linebacker John House early in the first quarter and the other came late in the third as receiver JT Dooley, also a junior, returned a Panther kickoff for a touchdown. Seniors Stephen Dieb and Chris Buell added two touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball for the Scots as Dieb, a running back, front flipped into the end zone and Buell, a receiver, caught a 24 yard touchdown pass from senior, quarterback, Henry Allen. Will Moore, also a senior, kicked Highland Park’s only field goal of the afternoon from an impressive 41 yards. Although the Scots’ efforts were not enough to overcome the powerful offense of Waco Midway, they had an excellent season that everyone should be proud of. Highland Park has a lot to look forward to in 2016 as we will be moving down to 5A competition. Until then, Go Scots!
