Ascension Coffee
Ascension Coffee is a dank coffee shop located off Oak Lawn Avenue, just inside the Design District. It is past the tollway and Old Parkland. Personally, I loved the location since I enjoy exploring Dallas’ unique parts. I was there around 5 o’clock pm on a Sunday night and since it is also a restaurant, it had a decent crowd.
The left corner of Ascension is a coffee shop while the right side is the restaurant. I sat at the bar of the coffee shop facing the board of the drink options and ordered a caramel latte. The caramel flavor was not strong, but the coffee was not too bitter.
I liked the decor of this shop. Its main colors are black and red, but it is sleek and well designed. There are paintings on the wall and a column right by the line is painted over with chalkboard paint that has messages written on it. The counter is divided from the seating area by a bookshelf filled with little books and knick-knacks.
The service is great as well. The baristas were friendly and were happy to keep a conversation going with me. They explained to me the details of their cappuccino machine and we conversed about the different coffee shops around the Dallas metroplex.
I would not recommend this shop as a study place since its is a noisy venue. The lighting is also pretty dim and I do not think Ascension is set up for the studious individual. Although it is a fabulous place to chat with friends or family.
Overall, I loved the location of Ascension since everything was more artistic. I also thought the coffee was of good quality.
