Mexican Cuisine is amazing, but when upscaled with care and effort, it comes out even better than before.
El Molino is an upscale Mexican Restaurant located in Snider Plaza that opened its doors on Oct. 14 of this year. It is owned by the Vandelay Hospitality Group, the same company that owns other popular restaurants such as, Hudson House, East Hampton Sandwich Co, DL Mack’s, Slider and Blues and many other Park Cities Favorites.
Those who are looking for amazing Mexican Cuisine mixed with a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere should visit El Molino. Upon my entrance, I felt welcomed by their staff, and the refined environment with dim lighting, wood furnishings and wall decorations seemed to make the food taste even better than it would elsewhere.
I ordered two dishes. The first was Corn Tempura, which was battered and fried corn. It was simple, but had a very good and savory taste. Cut in about eight or so triangles, the pieces were easy to eat almost like french fries. It also came with a side of jalapeno ranch. In my opinion, there was nothing they really could have done better with the Corn Tempura, it was perfectly made and tasted wonderful.
With the Tempura, what shocked me was the simplicity. The chef only needed a few ingredients, corn and the tempura, to make something that tasted amazing. I contemplated getting another order, but ultimately decided to save room for the fajitas. The Corn Tempura is totally a dish I will order next time I go to El Molino.
The other item I ordered was the Filet Mignon and Chicken Combo Fajitas. They came with, of course, tortillas. Along with that, it came with the normal toppings you’d see with fajitas such as cheese, sour cream and guacamole. Their mix of flavors, like how tender the meat was and how savory the toppings were when mixed with the meats were incredible. Not only that, the spices were amazing, it not only looked great but tasted better than any other fajitas I have had from any other Mexican Restaurants.
What surprised me about their fajitas compared to other restaurants, was the amount of food that was given for just one meal. It was enough to easily have enough to take home for dinner, even with the single person option. With a whole plate just for the meats, a plate for the toppings, and a plate for the tortillas, it made for a luxury experience. It was an amazingly put together and savory dish that I would undoubtedly get next time. The filet mignon and chicken combo came out to a total of $37.
Not only was the food good, but the service was also top tier. Right from the moment we walked in to the moment we sat down and ordered, the staff was polite and informative. They were attentive, giving information on the dishes, bringing chips and salsa and drinks, and just overall helping and answering questions when asked. They were probably one of the best parts of the restaurant.
The prices were high for what I ordered. Yet, it’s not overly expensive, it was worth the price for extremely good quality and service which is something I enjoyed. All together, the entire meal came out to $51.
All together, El Molino is the local upscale Mexican Restaurant for those looking for high quality and good tasting food mixed with an upscale dining environment. It’s a relaxing environment, helping to provide those dining inside the restaurant the feel of having great food made even better with polite staff and well thought out dishes that put quality and quantity at equal levels, getting a good amount of food for what their price is.
