Out of my family’s many recipes, our M&M brookies is my absolute favorite. It is a cookie baked on top of a fudgy brownie and topped with M&M’s.
M&M brookies were first introduced to my family about 5 years ago when we wanted to make a new dessert. We wanted to make something more unique than just your average chocolate chip cookie, but still simple to make. My sister and I searched on Pinterest and when we saw the picture of M&M brookies, we immediately knew we had to make them.
brookies are the ultimate mashup of the best desserts, brownies, and cookies. The combination of fudgy brownies with chewy cookies and crunchy M&M’s is unbeatable. Each bite offers a perfect harmony of texture and flavor from the rich chocolate base of the brownies to the buttery, salty cookie. Though delicious at room temperature, warm fresh out of the oven, M&M brookies are a sure crowd pleaser- and bonus points with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!
The M&M’s add a vibrant pop of color making the brookies even more visually appealing. As the bookies bake, the M&M’s slightly melt into the cookie dough creating pockets of gooey chocolate goodness and the delightful crunch of the shell of the M&M perfectly compliments the other chewy layers, leading to an explosion of both flavor and texture.
One might wonder how you bake brownies and cookies together if cookies typically bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees and brownies usually bake for about 45 minutes at 325 degrees. Few things disappoint me more than desserts that come out slightly burnt, especially when following the exact bake time. As an experienced brookie maker, I have perfected the art of the bake time for the perfect textured brookies. Personally, I like my brookies extra chewy and soft- I’ve found that baking brookies for exactly 34 minutes at 325 degrees creates the perfect balance of a gooey soft brownie layer with a chewy cookie on top that is golden.
The rich fudgy brownie layer provides the perfect flavor foundation that compliments the butterfly sweetness of the cookie. The M&Ms add bursts of milk chocolate in every bite, enchanting the chocolate flavor profile, contrasting with the semi-sweet chocolate in the brownie.
Each bite of M&M brookie delivers delightful flavors and texture creating a symphony of flavors in your mouth. What I think truly sets the brookie apart though is its ability to staid the craving for sweets without overwhelming your palate with sugar. The deepness of the chocolate ensures a richness that leaves you satisfied instead of overwhelmed with sugar. M&M Brookies are the perfect combination of chocolate richness, and sugary delight, leaving one satisfied. The simplicity in preparation and mouthwatering taste make for a must-try dessert.
