District 108 State House of Representative elections are coming up, and there is one clear choice for who should represent our district. This person, of course, would be the current District 108 representative, Morgan Meyer.
People willing and of age to vote should choose Rep. Meyer on November 5th at any voting location for his views on major problems within Texas and how he will solve them. It’s important to vote for a House Representative because they represent every resident within the district borders, allowing the people to voice their concerns about our communities, and helping the nearly 200,000 residents fix issues. Rep. Meyer has been the District 108 Representative since 2015, and he’s running for Representative again this year. He has proven himself a competent and popular representative for nearly a decade.
Meyer’s opponent, Elizabeth Ginsberg, does not support the Second Amendment. She thinks that we should have very strict gun control laws, not allowing citizens to own larger firearms and restricting where people can bring their guns. Ginsberg thinks that people should not be able to bring their weapons concealed to public places. She also thinks that people are irresponsible with their weapons and don’t keep them safe and regulated properly.
While it is true that there are many unregistered weapons, there are many people who are responsible with their weapons and who take the proper precautions and registration with their weapons. These people all have the proper training needed to have their firearms, along with the proper storage and storage location of their guns. People should be able to protect their families in public if the unthinkable happens. Meyer supports the 2nd amendment, he thinks people should still be responsible for their guns, but does not view how Ginsberg thinks about gun control, but they do share similar views about the education system’s funding.
Ginsberg wishes to make sure that our education is good and schools are well funded, which is a great thing to have, and is saying that Meyer is defunding the schools within the District. Everyone should have access to a good education in a safe environment. With that, every kid should have the ability to not worry about having a bad education, an unsafe learning environment, poor quality lunches, and not having a good future after graduation and moving on in their lives because of their poor education. Kids should be able to have a good life, in and out of school. Even when they graduate, they should be able to get good jobs with their education to support themselves.
But with that being said, Meyer has already funded the schools, he wishes to help the teachers and students, and if he gets elected he’ll be funding the schools even more. Over the next biennium, the schools within District 108 schools will be hit with a lot of relief from his funding. There is even a package in the works to give our schools 30 Billion dollars in general state revenue, and 18 billion dollars in tax relief for schools. With these, school funding within District 108 will exceed 50% for the first time in decades.
While both candidates have good intentions, Meyer has far more experience with the Texas House of Representatives. He has been the District 108 representative since 2015 and has kept that office for a reason. Meyer knows what the people want in their communities and what they need in their daily lives, their necessities.
Meyer is the obvious choice for voters this election cycle. He will make sure the needs of the residents are met, schools are well funded, students are educated, and protect our rights as citizens of the United States, and as citizens of Texas.
