Wild Detective Coffee
On Sunday November 1 around 3 o’clock, I drove to the Wild Detectives in the Bishop Arts District. There is not a parking lot for this shop, so parking is very scarce, especially since it is located in the neighborhood more than the main shopping area. Luckily I was able to parallel park right in front of the shop. The Wild Detectives is a little red house with a picket fence surrounding it.
They offer simplistic coffee beverages as well as alcohol. During the day people go for coffee, though. I ordered a latte after questioning if they had any syrups. They do not. Scared that I would somehow dislike this sugarless drink, I took a sip. It was actually tasty and was not too bitter. If you happen to enjoy more sugary coffees, I still believe The Wild Detectives is worth a try. They also offer the option of adding sugar water to your drink, which I did not opt for.
The Wild Detectives has very limited indoor seating, and with large crowds and rainy weather, it was difficult to find a spot to enjoy my coffee. If the weather was nicer, sitting outdoors would have been great. Although I did not like the seating arrangements, I did enjoy the decor. The walls are wooden and there are books and records along the walls that are able to be purchased. They create a hipster vibe, as well as the succulents scattered among the tables.
The service was decent, but they had many people to tend to since The Wild Detectives is a bustling place with many people going in and out. When you go, be sure to make up your mind quickly so the baristas do not get too flustered with you. They are helpful and will explain the difference between the drinks to you, though, but are antsy to get through the long line. So overall I recommend trying this shop out if you have plenty of time and are not in dire need to study since focusing is difficult there.
