Brads Apps #4: 1010!
1010! is a simple, endless game that feels like a 21st century reincarnation of Tetris. The game was created by Gram Games back in August of last year and as of this June the game has 30 million downloads. 1010! has also shown up in the featured sections of the App Store and the Play Store along with being the number one download in multiple countries in the respective app stores.
The game’s goal is to get the most points possible with the collection of blocks you are given. The game is structured by starting players with four blocks and one can place them onto the board. Once four blocks are used, the player will get four more. If a rowed is filled completely, you will receive additional points and the row will disappear. Eventually, there will be a block which can’t fit in the remaining spaces causing you to lose the game; or if your a lucky fellow, you’ll reach a score of 1010 and win the game.
One of my favourite features of the app is the ability to enter a dark mode. In the dark mode it reverses most colors to a darker opposite and it looks great. Another usual feature is its’ syncing of scores to Game Center and Play Games along with Facebook and Twitter share buttons.
As usual with most free games today, 1010! is supported by advertisements. You can always pay to remove these annoyances which prevent you from enjoying your game. If you aren’t willing to give up a buck, you can always strategize while the 30 second ad runs.
Overall, 1010! is a great way to entertain yourself while avoiding listening to teacher’s lecture with it’s simple, highly addictive game-play.
