Mudsmith
October 11 at around 2:30, I drove to the bustling Lower Greenville to taste the coffee at Mudsmith. The location is right in the midst of popular shops such as Steel City Pops. There is a parking lot in the back of the row of shops, but you have to search for a spot since Lower Greenville is such a popular location.
Upon walking into Mudsmith, I was slightly overwhelmed by the amount of customers present. Most tables except for a couple were taken by students working diligently on their laptops, and others were occupied by families chatting over drinks and snacks. The line was even continuously growing throughout my visit there. I stood in the line for a good five minutes trying to decide if I should try something adventurous or just stick to something I am comfortable. Finally, I ordered an iced KC’s special, which is a latte with caramel and vanilla syrups. It was given to me in a mason jar with a handle. The latte was very sweet, so since I have a sweet tooth, I thought it was delicious. Yet, they do not only sell coffee during the day, but also a variety of fresh juices and sandwiches, which I have not tried, but I am sure they are great.
The decor of Mudsmith is elaborate. There are stuffed animal heads, such as deers, hanging from the walls, and the vibe of the shop is rustic yet tough since it is turned into a bar at night, so it must accommodate to both sides. Therefore, I do not recommend studying at Mudsmith after school since it is first of all too loud to focus well, and second, although it is open late, it is not a safe study environment.
Overall, I enjoyed my latte, but I much prefer small coffee shops that are not at full capacity at all times.
