‘Max’imum Tunage – Avicii’s Stories
This week, the biggest album release was Avicii’s new album Stories, an electronic rock album featuring songs such as, “Levels”, and “Wake Me Up”.
“Waiting for Love” has a light piano back track contrasted with the the hard beat. The song is chorus is fairly catchy and you will have the beat in your head for the rest of the day.
“Talk to Myself” is a heavier song with a hard bass line and short violin/string colors. the song is a solid song with a good, repeated chorus.
“Ten More Days” is a slower song with a bluesy feel. It is a sad song that has a very good chorus and well defined beats.
In stark contrast to the previous song, “For a Better Day” is a happier song that has a good beat and overpowered piano riff.
“Broken Arrows” is a quick upbeat song with a fast and fun tempo that goes in many different places.
“True Believer” has a great buildup that resolves into a marimba/piano trade off. The chorus is also a great tune.
The longest song on this album, “City Lights”, is a good song that starts fairly slow but then builds into a slow vocal line, but turns into a strong beat.
“Can’t Catch Me” has a reggae feel. After the chorus, the song morphs into a fast piano riff with a slow, contrasting beat.
“Somewhere in Stockholm” has a slight beat with a good vocal track, it is a nice song to listen to while doing homework or trying to sleep.
“Trouble” is an acoustic guitar track with good verses and a better beat. It reminds me of a classic Avicii track.
“Gonna Love Ya” is a good song with a slight beat in the beginning that morphs into a stronger beat. The vocals are good and it leaves you with a good taste in your mouth for the end of the album.
Avicii is a great artist who has once again released another masterpiece of an electronic music album.
