Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Where are you?

The most exciting part of any high school student’s week is typically when the bell rings, Friday at 3:30. But what do they plan to do with their weekend?

Eating at a restaurant with friends is a great way to start the weekend. There are so many different places to eat and they all offer great food and atmosphere.

“I love to spend time with my best friends on the weekend. We have sleepovers and eat at La Madeline. La Madeline is such a great restaurant because it has yummy food and a good atmosphere,” freshman Ashley Warfield said.

Another favorite of students is heading to one of the many area lakes.

“I go to the lake a lot on the weekends with my family and friends. I tried paddle boarding and at first I fell off a few times, but it was really cool,” freshman Katie Tanzy said.

If you want to try paddle boarding or kayaking, there are a ton of rental places around area lakes just waiting for you to investigate.

“I like the competition and the constant urge to want to get better. My mom was the one that got me started,” freshman Caroline Millet said.

Tennis is a game that can be played by either guys or girls and can be played year round. A great sport to play is tennis. It can played at age 10 or 70. It is truly a lifetime sport.

A great thing to do on a beautiful afternoon would be to pack a picnic lunch and head off towards the Nasher Sculpture Garden. It is an outdoor, roofless museum with modern sculptures displayed outside. It contains a variety of art pieces by artists such as Calder, Picasso, Miro and so on.

The Fountain Place Water Gardens are a beautiful area to visit because of its wonderful fountains and flowing water gardens. There are tables and benches to sit and just enjoy.

A new project for the City of Dallas that could create a lot of weekend entertainment possibilities is the Trinity River Corridor Project. Among the activities planned for this new area are, fishing tournaments, an art walk, special activities at the Continental Avenue Bridge, fitness activities such as yoga and fitness runs, there is also the Trinity River Audubon Center which is opened as a nature center, and the central structure in the Great Trinity Forest.

As you can see, the opportunities for entertainment on any weekend in Dallas are numerous, regardless of whether it is an individual or a group. Time spent together as friends is the most important element. So grab a friend and make a new memory this weekend!
