There will be a CSC meeting tonight in C105 from 6 – 7pm.

There is a Spanish National Honor Society meeting from 6-7 in the cafeteria TONIGHT for all current members!

The JV and Varsity Lady Scot Basketball teams both came out with wins over Royce City on friday.  The Varsity remains undefeated at 13 & 0.  Their last home game is Tuesday versus Wylie East! Please come out and support the Lady Scots in their last district game and also to honor seniors Mary Margaret Roberts, Hillary Baker, Emma Hill, Morgan smith, and Eve Loewe! Festivities kick off at 6:30 and game time is at 7!

Friday and Saturday the Girls and Boys Swimming and Diving teams competed at the UIL Region 3 -5A Championship meet in Frisco. Out of the 28 Scots that qualified for Friday’s prelim session, 23 swimmers and divers qualified to represent the top 16 competitors in at least one event in the finals session Saturday. Out of the 25 teams competing at the meet, the Girls team collected 140 points for a 6th place finish and the Boys team collected 318 points and claimed the Regional Championship Title with a 42 point lead over the championship runner-up team, Grapevine High School! Felix Van Cauwelaert was named the Region 3’s Male Athlete of the Year and Coach Jesse Cole was named Region 3’s Boy’s Team Coach of the Year. Those that qualified and that will be moving on to compete at the 5A State Swim and Dive Meet February 17th and 18th include the 2nd Place boys 200 Medley Relay team of Peter Paulus, Henry Wang, Ethan Nguyen, and Omar Hmimy, the Regional Champs Boys 200 Freestyle Relay including Ethan Nguyen, Omar Hmimy, Robby King, and Felix Van Cauwelaert, and the Regional Champ Boys 400 Freestyle Relay team of R. King, Paulus, Hmimy, and F. Van Cauwelaert. Individuals qualifiers include Felix Van Cauwelaert who won both his events in the 200 and 500 Freestyle, Robby King who placed 2nd in the 200 Freestyle and 4th in the 100 Butterfly, Ethan Nguyen who placed 4th in the 50 freestyle and won the 100 Breaststroke, Henry Wang who placed 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke, and Peter Paulus who placed 2nd also in the 100 Breaststroke. Congratulations Scots and take state!

Any current 9th, 10th, or 11th grader interested in trying out for the 2017-2018 HPHS Cheerleading squad must bring a parent and attend a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, February 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., in the Highland Park High School cafeteria. The tryout procedures, policies, and timeline will be addressed, and all tryout materials, including the applications, will be distributed. Are you interested in joining the Sparkling Scots Squad? If so, there will be a mandatory Sparkles Cheer Interest Meeting on Tuesday, February 7th from 5:30-6:30 pm in room WC106. Both a PARENT ANDTHE CHEERLEADER/MENTOR SISTER must be at the meeting. Applications will only be available to pick up at the meeting. Please contact Mrs. Venesky in room WC106 if you have any questions.

Juniors and Seniors who participate in HP sports, cheerleading, and Belles: Don’t forget to turn in your Cornerstone Scholar Athlete Application to the stadium athletic office no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10th.  No applications will be accepted late.  For an application, go to the HPISD website – Departments – Athletics – What’s Happening.  If you have any questions, please see the Head Coach of your sport.

Juniors, are you interested in learning more about Sr. Internship Program? If so, plan to attend a meeting on Feb. 15th at 7:30am or 3:45pm in the cafeteria.

The annual blood drive will take place during school on Feb. 13th in the Mezzanine. You can sign up for the blood drive during your lunch this week. You must have permission from your teacher prior to signing up.  All participants will be required to have a Zika formed signed by their parents before donating; you can get this form when you sign up to donate. You must be 17 and 110 pounds. You can earn one service hour for donating, but you are responsible for entering your hours yourself. For each person who donates, we save 3 lives, so please lets work together to save as many lives as we can.
