Highland Belles host annual Spaghetti Supper to raise money for year

To raise money for their program, the Highland Belles hosted their 37th annual Spaghetti Supper and Auction fundraiser last week. The Belles will use the money for transportation, props, equipment and dance competitions.

The families of the Belles provided donations of over 500 raffle items and the Belles sold tickets for the event. The Spaghetti Supper was organized by the event chairs and several committees run by the Belles’ families.

This year, the Spaghetti Supper was especially exciting because it arrived on the heels of the return of Belles director Shannon Phillips.

“I’m really excited about the Spaghetti Supper because Ms. Phillips just got back this week after she’s been battling cancer,” senior Belles Lieutenant Ellie McFarland said.

The Spaghetti Supper is also an opportunity for aspiring Belles, mainly elementary and middle-schoolers, to get a glimpse into what being on the team is like.

“I love meeting all the little girls who want to become Belles and taking pictures with them,” sophomore Belle Kate Hamilton said.

This annual event consistently unifies the Scots before the first home football game every year.

“It’s just a really fun community event. We have a DJ, so it’s fun for kids, and they can dance, eat spaghetti and take photos with Belles,” Belles assistant director Emily Sanchez said. “The Spaghetti Supper is always before the first home football game, so it always helps bring together a sense of community.”
