DIY Cellphone Holders

There are two methods to make a do-it-yourself phone stand. This is for when you’re watching a video or television show and don’t want to hold the phone out in front of you. The first method has these required materials.

  • An empty paper towel roll
  • An index card
  • Washi or duct tape
  • Hot glue
  • X-acto knife
  • Markers

For this method, you need to measure your phone and draw a hole with the marker. Use the X-acto knife to cut the hole in the empty paper towel roll. Double check and place your phone in the hole to make sure it fits properly. Hot glue the paper towel roll to the flat index card with the incision made facing upwards. Cover the empty paper towel roll and the index card with duct tape. Make sure not to cover the holes on each side of the paper towel roll.

For the second method we need:

  • ½ a yard of fabric
  • Coffee beans, soy beans or any dry bean
  • Fabric scissors
  • Needle
  • Thread in the fabric’s matching color
  • Measuring tape

The next do-it-yourself cell phone holder project is a bean bag chair for your phone. This is better for acoustics, because the sound won’t be trapped in each edge of the paper towel tube.

To make this cell phone stand you need to make a cylinder with the fabric. Measure a circle on a piece of paper with a three inch diameter and cut it out. Cut out two matching circles using the fabric. Now you need to make one square that measures three by the circumference of your circle. Begin to sew the cell phone holder.

Sew each end backsides to backsides. Leave a small spaces that way you can fill the bag with the beans of your choice. I used coffee beans, so now my bean bag smells like coffee. Sew the bag closed. If you don’t want to sew, you can hot glue the bean bag instead. The fabrics that will work best for this project are cotton, polyester or nylon. Try to avoid using thick materials like denim or wool. You could use an old t- shirt to make this and be eco-friendly. This cell phone holder is also great for squeezing as a stress reliever.
