DJ Marshmello Leads the Pop and EDM Music Genre

Christopher Comstock, also known as EDM DJ Marshmello, came out with the single “FRIENDS” featuring singer-songwriter Anne-Marie on Feb. 9. The popular single’s music video was released on Feb. 16, and has had over 98 million views on YouTube.
Marshmello started his career in 2015, when he posted his first original mixtape “WaVez” on Soundcloud. Shortly after his mixtape received praise from artists such as Skrillex, Marshmello performed at New York’s Pier 94, Pomona, California’s HARD Day of the Dead festival and Miami Music Week.
In 2016, he released remixes of songs included in his debut album “Joytime,” which reached number five on the US Billboard Chart. Later that year Marshmello released his debut album Joytime, which consisted of 10 songs. The album reached number five on the Billboard chart. He performed at the Electric Daisy Carnival in 2016, and shortly after Marshmello announced that he was going on tour until Jan. 2017. In October of 2016, he started his own record label Joytime Collective, and signed with fellow EDM producer Slushii.
In 2017, Marshmello collaborated with artist Ookay and released the single “Chasing Colors,” featuring Noah Cyrus. After releasing this single, he collaborated with Slushii, and released the single “Twinbow.” On May 5, Marshmello released the single “Moving On,” and a music video was released for the single.
In July of 2017, Marshmello announced that he was planning on collaborating with hip-hop artist blackbear. Later that year, he released the single “Love U.” Marshmello earned $21 million before June 2017 and was named in Forbes’ annual ranking of the world’s highest-paid DJs.
On October 20, 2017, Marshmello released the single “You & Me,” and the music video was released three weeks later on YouTube, with over 20 million views as of Jan. 2018. Most recently, a collaboration with Maryland rapper Logic titled “Everyday” was released as a single.
