DNCE, the American dance-rock band came out with a new single on Jan. 26 of this year.

DNCE consists of four band members, including vocalist Joe Jonas, drummer Jack Lawless, bassist and keyboardist Cole Whittle and guitarist JinJoo Lee. They officially came together in 2015.

DNCE added its fourth and final member Cole Whittle, who was formerly the bassist of Semi Precious Weapons; when Jonas started working with Whittle on DNCE’s debut album. The group named themselves “DNCE” after one of the names of their first songs in their album which lyrically speaks about spelling the word “dance” wrong, being drunk. This was to show that they are a group of imperfection in their own awesomeness, according to Jonas. And according to JinJoo, the name also stands for the idea that you don’t have to be a perfect dancer to dance in life.

The group released their debut single “Cake By the Ocean” on Sept. 15 of 2015, and the song reached top 10 in several charts. The song was number nine on the Billboard Hot 100, and number seven on Canada’s Hot 100. The song had a global consumption of six million.

DNCE released their self-titled debut album, DNCE on Nov. 18, 2016.

The band’s video for its latest single “Toothbrush” has received nearly 40 million views on YouTube.

In April 2017, the band collaborated with Nicki Minaj on their new single, “Kissing Strangers”.

The band won the “Best New Artist” award at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
