Call me over to see this film again

Call Me by Your Name blows me away

Before my eyes were blessed to see such a heartwarming film, I had no idea a movie could possess such reality. Call Me by Your Name has become a breath of fresh air for me with the cinematography and acting finesse it holds.

With the basic premise of a summer romance that can’t last, you will instantly be sucked into the emotionally charged summer fling of seventeen year old Elio and his family’s guest doctoral student Oliver. With the setting taking place in the countryside of northern Italy in 1983, you begin to see the interaction between the two main characters and their subtleties to show their mutual attraction to each other.

This movie, I can say without a doubt is the best movie of 2017 and definitely deserves to win an award for its work. One of the phenomenal aspects of this film is the spacing out of music filled scenes, and what I mean by this is letting the ambiance of real noise envelop a good majority of the movie. Another great element of Call Me by Your Name is the heartwarming connection you feel for Elio and Oliver during the course of this beautiful romantic chemistry they attain, and knowing that it can’t last outside of the confines of summer due to society. Lastly another beautiful part of this movie is the environment itself, from the calm meadows and river basins to the quaint small town life of a countryside of Italy you will be enamored by the lush beauty of the film.

For what little criticism I have for Call Me by Your Name, I do possess one minor critique. One small complaint I have is more self-analytical than a complaint towards the actual production itself, but I wish the audience was given a better understanding of who truly knows of Elio’s attraction he possesses for men. For me, this question followed me leaving the movie and maybe it is a matter of seeing the film again, but not feeling as though I know the answer to this questions seems to bother me.

All that I can really say about this movie to inspire someone to go out and see it is you won’t be disappointed. Whether you truly fall in love with it or if you’re on the fence about it, I strongly doubt that you will not like it at all. With a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a wonderfully spaced-out soundtrack, and an amazing setting and cast list, there’s very little reason for this movie not to be stupendous.
