Huntsville has been the stopping point for Scots volleyball two years in a row. Red Oak was the opponent this year at Sam Houston State University. Red Oak had tons of fans, including most of their student body, because their drive was only about 45 minutes. The drive there was three hours making it difficult for most of our fans to come.

The Scots warmed up, and everyone knew we were going to put up a fight, but the first match wasn’t quite up to par. Red Oak took the lead with their first server, and the Scots just couldn’t bring it. The match ended pretty quickly ending a close game at, 25-18 Red Oak. Everyone had a good attitude though; they decided to fight the next match.

The next match the Scots won and started to gain some energy and momentum. During this game Falyn Reaugh brought her A game. She had multiple kills and put up a great block. “Falyn worked hard in the second match. She showed lots of energy and dedication. No matter what was happening in the game she was always smiling and supporting the team,” freshman Lily Marchetto said. The score ended 25-22 Scots.

Every game everyone played a great game. Jordan Westendorf served a great ball in every game. She also did great in defense. This helped the Scots out tremendously, but they couldn’t quite catch up ending the score of the third match 25-17 Red Oak.

The next match was going to be the last. It was the last match the senior girls were going to play for Highland Park, and possibly their last game if they weren’t playing volleyball in college. So when the game ended of course everyone was sad and lots of the players cried. Nevertheless, it was inspiring for freshmen.

“The game was super special to me because I got the chance to witness how close and strong the girls really are. They have inspired me to work really hard, so I can be a part of the same close knit program,” freshman Mason Mcneely said.
