On Thursday, October 20th the freshmen football team had a home game against Mesquite. The game was cancelled halfway through due to inclement weather. The school became aware of this and took precaution so they moved the 7:30 pm Varsity game to 7:00 pm on Friday October 21st. Even with this change in timing the game was still accompanied by a lot of rain. The following week the JV and freshmen games got pushed forward to Wednesday instead of Thursday, while the varsity game got pushed forward to Thursday.

“I liked how the game was moved to Wednesday because on Friday I had a lot of quizzes and test,” freshmen Luke Simpton said. “Instead of playing football on Thursday night and not having time to study I now got to study because I didn’t have to play at a football game,” Simpton said.

The pushback of this game didn’t only leave everybody with no Friday night plans, but what most people consider the coolest pep rally of the year known as the Black light pep rally where black lights are put up and the gymnastics team, band, belles, cheerleaders, Scotsmen, and color guard perform was also moved to Thursday with the football game. However, the most effected from the game change was the Senior Fright Night on Thursday night got moved to a later time from 10:00 pm-12: 30 am leaving many seniors feeling horrible at school on Friday.

“I’m extremely tired and it has been very hard for me to focus in class,” senior Cheyenne Son said. “The party would’ve been a lot more fun if it was on a Friday because I wouldn’t of had to wake up and go to school the next day,” Son said.

Many volunteers had to rearrange their schedules so that they could help operate the football games. Parent volunteers who sell the tickets, and concession rearranged their schedules so that they could be able to volunteer on Thursday night instead of Friday.

The real question is if it was a good idea to change the schedule for the week. The weather was perfect on Thursday and it was heavily raining on Friday so it’s very good that the game was moved to Thursday or else the game on Friday might have been rained out.
